Peters Family celebrates new business endeavor
ROCHELLE, IL…The Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce and Business Development is pleased to welcome Peters Automotive, Inc. to its growing list of new members with a Ribbon Cutting on Friday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m. The event will be held at Peters’ facility at 1080 S. 7th Street, Rochelle. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.
Founded in 1928, Peters Automotive has been serving the Greater Rochelle Area for over 80 years and three generations with auto and truck sales, auto parts and accessories, tire sales, towing, and complete auto and truck repair service.
“We are proud to be associated with a long-standing Rochelle business with such a rich history of offering a quality product and the highest level of customer service”, said Peggy Friday, Chamber Executive Director. “The retention of jobs is also of great importance to the community”, Friday said.
With the evolution of the auto industry, Peters Automotive has continued to evolve to better serve the area. The family started Peters Garage in 1928 as a machine shop, auto and truck repair, farm equipment sales, and State of Illinois Truck Inspection Lane. In 1954 the business name was changed to Peters GMC, becoming a dealer for General Motors. After more than 55 years with GM, the Peters Family was notified in May of 2009 that they would no longer be a GMC Franchise Dealer as a result of the GM bankruptcy. Determined to stay in business, the company name was changed to Peters Automotive. A new partnership was formed with CARQUEST Auto Parts and TECH-NET Professional Auto Service, industry leaders in auto parts and service. Peters Automotive, Inc. will offer used auto and truck sales, towing, tires, State Inspection, parts under CARQUEST and service under TECH-NET.
